Description

This 1880-S Morgan really pops with that proof-like obverse showing deep mirrored fields that contrast beautifully against the frosted devices. Liberty's portrait stands out with sharp definition in the hair curls and cotton blossoms, while the reverse displays strong cartwheel luster with full feather detail on the eagle. You can catch some light golden rim toning creeping in around the edges that adds a bit of character without detracting from the overall blast white appearance. San Francisco was known for producing some of the most visually stunning Morgans of the era, and this piece is a prime example of their quality control during that period. A really attractive coin that falls just shy of the full PL designation but delivers that mirror-like punch collectors love.
