Description

This 1848 Hannover Thaler featuring King Ernst August is a superb example of German States coinage from the pre-unification era. The obverse displays a finely detailed portrait of the King facing right with the legend identifying him as ruler of Hannover, while the reverse showcases the crowned royal coat of arms. At MS65+, this coin exhibits semi proof-like surfaces on both sides with a crisp strike and nearly high relief design that gives the devices impressive depth and presence. Struck at the Hannover mint under mint master Theodor Wilhelm Brüel, this piece represents exceptional preservation for a coin approaching 180 years old. Finding German Thaler coinage in gem condition with plus-grade quality is genuinely rare, making this a standout piece for any European silver or German States collection.
